Homeowners Wake Up at 2 A.M. to Discover Snake Slipping into Sewage Pipes — and Have to Force the Reptile Through Their Toilet

  • A carpet python was found in the sewage pipes of a family home in Queensland, Australia, on April 29

  • They contacted professional snake catcher Tim Hudson to retrieve the reptile

  • Hudson revealed in a post on Facebook that he had to force the snake through the sewage line before finally taking it out of the toilet

A family has been left shaken up after spotting a snake stuck in a sewage pipe underneath a toilet in their home in Australia.

In the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, April 29, a carpet python was found stuck in a sewage pipe at a home in South East Queensland and had to be forced out through the toilet.

The snake, nicknamed “Pooey,” suffered no injuries when it was extracted at 2:00 a.m. local time in a “careful surgical operation,” professional snake catcher Tim Hudson stated in a Facebook post.

“Meet 'Pooey' the Bidaddadaba Carpet Python 🐍 🚽💩,” Hudson wrote. “By bypassing the toilet and infiltrating the sewage line, we were able to locate and then yellow tongue this snake up through the sewage line and back out through the toilet… The snake can now choose a more hygienic place to chill rather than deep in a toilet 😷.”

Footage and photos shared by Hudson showed the snake slithering across the bathroom floor after being extracted from the toilet.

The snake catcher showed the python on a monitor in a following clip, while stuck in the sewage pipe.

Hudson was finally filmed picking up the snake out from the toilet. “And that’s how you get a carpet python out of the actual plumbing under the toilet,” he said.

“I’ll be washing my hands like you wouldn’t believe,” added Hudson.
