The Atlanta Hawks have one major move this offseason, which was the trade to acquire center Kristaps Porzingis from the Boston Celtics. This meant the departure of longtime starter Clint Capela. However, the Hawks weren't letting go of Capela without getting something in return.
Due to this, Atlanta facilitated a sign-and-trade for Capela to have his second stint with the Houston Rockets. In return, the Hawks received a 2031 second-round pick swap, plus cash, according to a report from Jake Fischer from X.
It was clear from last season that the Swiss star won't be part of the Hawks' roster moving forward. That was further confirmed after the front office traded for the Latvian big man.

On Thursday, there was an update on Capela's trade to the Rockets. According to The Athletic's Fred Katz, the Hawks could be part of a historic seven-team trade to help facilitate the Houston Rockets-Phoenix Suns trade centered around Kevin Durant.
The record-setting deal involves the Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves.
"League sources tell The Athletic that the Rockets and Suns are working on expanding the Kevin Durant trade into a deal that would involve a league-record seven teams. Other teams involved in negotiations at the moment include the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves, league sources say. ...The Hawks would be sending Clint Capela to the Rockets in what would become a sign-and-trade, league sources say," Katz wrote.
This will be the first time a trade will involve seven organizations.
Capela lasted five seasons with the Hawks and was the consistent starting center for the organization. He averaged 11.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks during his tenure.
