Gamethread 150: Royals at Phillies

Going into last Sunday’s game against the Twins, the Royals were just 1 game behind the Seattle Mariners for the final Wild Card spot. Fast forward one week, and the Royals have lost six of their last seven games and are 7 games back of the last wild card spot and are 74-75 on the season.

The Royals are 1-5 on their road trip through Cleveland and Philadelphia. Some positive news though is that in last night’s loss, Salvador Perez hit his 300th career home run and drove in his 1,000th career RBI. So that’s pretty cool from the Captain. He is just 17 homers shy of tying George Brett for the franchise record.

Noah Cameron will start for the Royals today. He threw a 7-inning gem on Tuesday in Cleveland, allowing just two runs. Unfortunately, the Royals were shut out in that game.

Carter Jensen gets his first career start at catcher in the Major Leagues today. Here is the rest of the Royals starters.

The Philadelphia Phillies have won six straight games, and their magic number to clinch the NL East is 1. So, a win for them or a Mets loss, locks them up as the champions of the National League East this season. They have won 89 on the season and have been one of the best teams in all of baseball all season.

Aaron Nola will start for them today. Here is the rest of the starters.

The Royals start at 12:35 p.m. CT. It can be watched on the FanDuel Sports Network.
