Former Arsenal academy midfielder Vlad Dragomir has won the Cypriot First Division with Pafos FC, scoring in their title-winning game.
After being highly rated as an Arsenal youth player, Vlad Dragomir probably dropped off the radar for most Gunners fans following his transfers to Serie B sides Perugia and then Virtus Entella.
Dragomir subsequently returned to top-flight football in Cyprus, signing for Pafos FC, and that’s turned out to be a really positive move for the 26-year-old.
In 2023/24, Dragomir scored in the final as Pafos won the Cypriot Cup, the club’s first major silverware and the player’s first trophy since he won the Romanian second division in 2015.
Dragomir’s strong form this season has been recognised back in his home country, and he made his international debut for Romania in a 5-1 win over San Marino in March 2025.
Returning to his club football, Dragomir has since helped Pafos to win their first-ever league title. The midfielder netted a powerful finish in their 4-0 win over title rivals Aris Limassol on Sunday to secure the trophy with two games remaining.
There’s still time for the team to complete a league and cup double, with Pafos 4-2 up after the first leg of their Cypriot Cup semi-final against Apollon.
Dragomir has played no small role in his new team’s successes. He’s made 52 appearances already this season, playing almost 4,500 minutes, and he’s scored or assisted 13 goals.
After Pafos conclude their cup and league campaigns, attentions will turn to their Champions League qualifiers, with their title win putting them in the second qualifying round for next season’s competition.
