Ford Pumps Up Prices For Mach-E, Maverick, Bronco Sport

While Ford says it isn’t pumping up new vehicle prices in general, the automaker had already decided to charge more for models made in Mexico, thanks to tariffs. That means if you’re looking to buy a new Mach-E, Maverick, or Bronco Sport, you’ll be paying more for the privilege.

In the meantime, GM is dialing up truck production in the US.

A price hike which can be up to $2,000 for each vehicle began on May 2, although the Blue Oval hasn’t made a big deal about it. Instead, we’re just now hearing about it thanks to a CNBC report.

In other words, it’s only vehicles built after May 2 that will be more expensive. There are probably a number of options sitting on dealer lots at the cheaper price. But we wonder if deal-hungry shoppers will scoop those up quickly.

This is probably the biggest blow to Ford Maverick fans. After all, back in the day they were promised a genuinely cheap pickup. But with not much supply and a waiting list, Ford has been able to charge $40,000 for something which can’t tow or haul as much as a minivan. Talk about adding insult to injury.

Now, the car company is passing on the tariffs to consumers after not delivering as inexpensive of a vehicle as promised. It ain’t easy being a Maverick fan, or as cheap as everyone initially thought, that’s for sure.

This price increase for Mexican-made Fords was quietly announced to dealers. It seems Ford didn’t want the general public knowing about it, even though people would’ve eventually figured things out.

Was Ford just trying to look like a hero to the American public? Did it really think nobody would notice? We doubt an answer will ever be provided, but this tariff situation is bringing some interesting behavior out in the auto industry.
