Fantasy Bundesliga tips: Midfielders to consider for the start of the 2025/26 season

With the new Bundesliga season just around the corner, we are ready to give you a helping hand with your Fantasy Bundesliga team.

In the third article of our series highlighting top picks by position, we take a closer look at the midfielders you should have on your radar when building your squad.

Budget options:

Jakub Kaminski, FC Köln 4.7m

The 23-year-old showed glimpses of his potential during his time at Wolfsburg, but never quite found his rhythm under Ralph Hasenhüttl last season. Now at Köln, Kaminski is expected to take on a more attacking and free role. He most recently delivered a promising performance in a 4-0 friendly win over Atalanta, racking up a goal and an assist.

Ibrahim Maza, Bayer Leverkusen 5.8m

A new arrival from Hertha BSC, Ibrahim Maza has been singled out by teammates during preseason as a player with big potential. With fellow newcomer Malik Tillman still working to regain full fitness, the young attacking midfielder, who contributed to 10 goals for Hertha in the 2. Bundesliga last season, should have a good chance of starting in Leverkusen’s opener.

Patrick Wimmer, Wolfsburg 7.6m

On his day, Wimmer’s ceiling is higher than that of most midfielders in the game, as he proved when he scored a fantastic brace in last season’s 2-1 win over Werder Bremen. The talent is undeniable, but the 24-year-old needs to improve his consistency. With Wolfsburg opening against Heidenheim, the opportunity is certainly there for the Austrian winger to kick off the season in style.

Mid-range options:

Kevin Stöger, Gladbach 11.3m

With Alassane Plea having left Borussia-Park for PSV, Stöger is expected to be a much more nailed on starter in attacking midfield for Gladbach in the new season. Capable of contributing regularly with both goals and assists, the former Bochum player has long been a Fantasy favorite - and he opens the campaign with a favorable home fixture against Hamburger SV.

Vincenzo Grifo, Freiburg 12.7m

From one long-time Fantasy favorite to another, Vincenzo Grifo is surely still worth considering, even if he may be past his prime. There was plenty of debate last season about whether the Italian winger was worth his price tag, but he still delivered eight goals and 11 assists. Grifo remains on all set pieces for Freiburg, who start the season with a favorable schedule, and with Doan having moved to Eintracht Frankfurt, he’s likely to take on even more responsibility.

Nadiem Amiri, Mainz 13.4m

Amiri was a key architect of Mainz’s outstanding campaign last season and will remain their midfield focal point as the new season kicks off. Entrusted with all set pieces for Bo Henriksen’s side, the German international is expected to deliver consistently - and he looks poised for a flying start, with Mainz hosting newly promoted Köln in their opener.

Premium options:

Jobe Bellingham, Dortmund 14.5m

Dortmund’s new star signing from Sunderland made an immediate impact at the Club World Cup and is expected to play a central role, operating as a box-to-box midfielder in front of two deeper-lying midfielders. With fixtures against St. Pauli, Union Berlin, and Heidenheim on the horizon, he could benefit from an excellent opening schedule.

Joshua Kimmich, FC Bayern 17.5m

You always know what you're going to get from Bayern’s midfield linchpin. While he may not score many goals himself, his duels, passes, and assists should guarantee him a high floor.

Michael Olise, FC Bayern 23.5m

With Florian Wirtz no longer in the Bundesliga and Jamal Musiala sidelined with a long-term injury, Michael Olise clearly stands out as the top midfield option. Based on his performances for Bayern so far, Olise is a must-have and should be your go-to star in midfield week after week - at least until the Champions League kicks off and Vincent Kompany is forced to rotate his Bayern squad more frequently.

Here's a video of Olise scoring a brace in Bayern's pre-season friendly win over Olympique Lyon:
