Fans love it when NFL teams revert back to their roots and wear an iconic uniform from a past season or decade. Falcons fans will be treated to the team wearing their throwback red helmets during three specific weeks during the season.

According to NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Falcons are scheduled to wear a throwback uniform in a week six matchup with the Buffalo Bills. Week 15 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and week 17 against the Los Angeles Rams. Two of the three games will be an ESPN primetime matchup.

The throwback helmets will display the old Falcons logo that the team used from its inaugural season in 1966 until 2003, when the team transitioned into a more modern direction.

Atlanta debuted the throwbacks for the first time since 2003 during the 2009 season. The "No Fun League," or otherwise known as the NFL, forced Atlanta to stop wearing the red helmets in 2013. Until that point, Atlanta would wear the fan favorite twice a year. During that period, Atlanta was still allowed to wear the uniforms, just not the helmets.

In 2022, the NFL relaxed the ridiculous rule and allowed teams to wear throwbacks and experiment with the "Color Rush" jerseys. Atlanta has had an unorthodox offseason and has given fans a reason to be optimistic. Let's hope the vintage combo uniforms will have them channeling their inner Deion Sanders mindset of "If you look good, you feel good, if you feel good, you play good, if you play good, they pay good."
