Laura Rutledge has made a name for herself over the last several years as a journalist for multiple prominent media outlets. She is one of a growing number of excellent women reporters in the male-dominated world of sports.
In 2013, she married Josh Rutledge, who was then an infielder with Major League Baseball's Colorado Rockies. They have had one son and one daughter together, and on Monday, she announced a piece of personal news on her Instagram account that she is excited about.
"So excited for this!" Laura Rutledge wrote. "Speaking at the church where I was baptized as a baby and where @jarutledge and I got married. This Wednesday evening In Atlanta! Details in this post!"
Laura Rutledge is originally from Florida, where she attended Celebration High School in the Orlando area. She started to gain visibility for herself when she earned the title of Miss Florida during the Miss America pageant in 2012.
After graduating from Florida, she went to work for Fox Sports as a sideline reporter for its coverage of the Tampa Bay Rays and later the San Diego Padres. She also hosted "Chargers Insider," a show that covered the then-San Diego Chargers of the NFL, as well as Fox Sports San Diego's "SDLive."
Since 2017, she has hosted "SEC Nation" on the SEC Network, and in 2020, she started hosting "NFL Live" on ESPN.
Laura Rutledge has also made appearances during ESPN's coverage of the NFL draft, as well as coverage of the Masters golf tournament.
While in college at Florida, she earned the 2011 Red Barber Award for Excellence in Broadcasting. She graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism.
Josh Rutledge's MLB career lasted six seasons. He spent his final three seasons with the Boston Red Sox after being traded there by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
