The terrorists belonged to the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Hasm Movement, who are recognized as a terror group by both the US and UK.
Officers from Egypt's Interior Ministry conducted a raid against Muslim Brotherhood-aligned terrorists in Giza, resulting in a shootout, in which two terrorists were killed, along with the death of one civilian, and injuries to a police officer, the ministry announced on Sunday.
The civilian succumbed to wounds caused by stray bullets fired during the shootout, and the police officer was wounded trying to protect them, after terrorists "opened fire indiscriminately," the ministry added.
The terrorists belonged to the Hasm Movement, according to the Interior Ministry.
Hasm is named after an abbreviation for Hakarat Sawa'd Misr (Arms of Egypt Movement).

The group was formally founded in 2016, and was proscribed as a terror organization by the UK in December 2017 and designated as a 'Specially Designated Global Terrorist' entity by the US in January 2018. Notably, their logo consists of a rifle imposed over Arabic letters spelling Hasm, signalling their extremist intentions.

However, terrorists from the Hasm Movement have been linked with terror attacks against Egyptian officials, including a car bomb which killed public prosecutor Hisham Barakat in June 2015.
The terror group was most active in carrying out terror attacks against Egyptian security personnel and civilians from 2016 until 2019, but has largely been inactive in the country since.
Is Turkey playing a role in supporting Muslim Brotherhood terrorists?
Egypt's Interior Ministry alleged that "leaders of the Hasm Movement" based in Turkey were preparing and planning to "revive their activities and carry out hostile operations targeting security and economic establishments."
