Dub Hub: ‘Strong expectation leaguewide’ Warriors will sign Seth Curry, per report

The Curry brothers might finally be teaming up.

Marc Stein of The Stein Line reports there is a “strong expectation leaguewide” that the Golden State Warriors will sign Stephen Curry’s younger brother Seth Curry, presumably once the Jonathan Kuminga contract is resolved.

There is a strong expectation leaguewide now that the Warriors will also be signing Seth Curry in addition to the Horford/Melton/Payton trio. Golden State currently has six roster spots open. It’s believed they will be filled by Horford, Melton, Payton, Stephen Curry’s younger brother Seth, second-round pick Will Richard and, of course, Kuminga.

The veteran guard is set to begin his 13th NBA season, having suited up for nine different teams over his career. Last year with the Charlotte Hornets, he averaged 6.5 points in 15.6 minutes per game while shooting 47.8% from the field and 45.6% from three.

Golden State still has six open roster spots. According to Stein, those are projected to be filled by free agents Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, and Curry, along with this year’s second-round pick Will Richard, and Jonathan Kuminga.

For more on this and other news around the NBA, here is our latest news round-up for Tuesday, September 23rd:

Reminder: Kuminga has until Oct. 1 to take the one-year, $8 million qualifying offer that has been on the table for him since free agency began. If there is no resolution to his situation before Oct. 1, Golden State might have to go through a day or two of practices without the likes of Horford, Melton and Payton as well as Kuminga himself. The Warriors are among the 25 teams leaguewide that will hold their Media Day next Monday (Sept. 29) and then practice for the first time on the following day.

Who is the best American player right now?

Stephen Curry: 11
Anthony Edwards: 8
Donovan Mitchell: 1

Before Tatum’s injury, this question wouldn’t have been on the survey at all, given the Boston Celtics superstar wing was coming off First-Team All-NBA honors for a fourth consecutive season and won the NBA title a year ago. But with Tatum out of the mix, the honor instead was given to Curry, despite him being 37 years old and entering his 17th NBA season.

“He’s still the guy who scares me most,” an Eastern Conference scout said of Curry.

Former Phoenix Suns star Steve Nash is joining the franchise as a senior adviser, owner Mat Ishbia announced Monday.

“Steve Nash was an amazing player and exactly what the Phoenix Suns are all about,” Ishbia wrote on social media. “His grit, toughness, and winning mentality have defined our organization in the past, and I’m so excited to share that Steve is formally joining the Suns as a senior advisor and will help us define our future for years to come!”

In case you missed it at Golden State of Mind:

Houston still figures to be one of the top teams in the West, even without VanVleet. They still have Durant, Alperen Şengün, Amen Thompson, and seemingly endless length and depth. But one of the league’s best rivalries just got a little worse, a month before the season even began., and that’s a bummer.
