Detroit Pistons Linked to Son of NBA Legend by Sportsbook Oddsmakers

The Detroit Pistons bowed out of the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs after losing to the New York Knicks in six games on May 1, completing one of the franchise's best seasons in years.

The Pistons' series loss was made more frustrating by the loss of center Isaiah Stewart to right knee inflammation, which kept him out of all but one game against New York.

This weekend, the Pistons were linked to a well known center and son of an NBA legend who is expected to become a free agent this offseason.

"The Detroit Pistons are the favorites to win the Bol Bol sweepstakes, per @BovadaOfficial (sportsbook)," the X page NBACentral wrote.

The Pistons have the best odds to sign the prospective free agent at +280 compared to +350 for the Denver Nuggets, +450 for the Los Angeles Lakers, and +550 for the Brooklyn Nets among other potential suitors.

Bol Bol is the son of NBA legend Manute Bol, the late, 7-foot-7 gentle giant who played in the NBA for a decade.

The Pistons traded for Bol Bol in January 2022 that was voided after the former Oregon Ducks center failed to pass his physical.

A 7-foot-3, 220 pound center for the Suns last season, Bol Bol averaged 6.8 points per game in 12.4 minutes per game last season.

He shot 2.6 3-pointers per game last season, making an average of .9 per game at a 34.4% clip. Bol Bol's career shooting percentage is 54.5%.

Bol Bol's effort was criticized by former Suns and Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal in 2024, to which the Suns center disagreed.
