Multiple players on the Detroit Lions have raised their stock this preseason, but none more than undrafted rookie wide receiver Jackson Meeks.
Heading into camp, Meeks was considered a long shot to make the roster. However, the Syracuse product has had an electric preseason and is now in a fantastic position to snag one of the final spots in Detroit's receiver room.
Meeks has hauled in 11 receptions for 176 yards and one touchdown in three preseason games thus far, but one stat pointed out by Al Karsten of Pride of Detroit shows just how good the young receiver has been.
According to Karsten, Meeks is one of just five wide receivers to have a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeted. One of the other members of that group is Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro Ja'Marr Chase, who is arguably the best receiver in football.
"Lions WR Jackson Meeks, along with Ja’Marr Chase, is one of five WRs this preseason with a perfect 158.3 passer rating when targeted (min. 5 targets)," Karsten said on X. "Not bad for a UDFA rookie who led the nation with 21 contested catches last season."
Being in the same company as Chase is impressive, no matter the stat. Meeks has passed the eye test with his play, but the stats are also backing up his excellent play in the preseason.
Detroit will finish the preseason at Ford Field versus the Houston Texans. If Meeks posts another productive outing this weekend, he could have a roster spot locked up come Tuesday, which is cut-down day.
