The UConn Huskies are simultaneously celebrating their school’s six national championship victories and National Donut Day in the funniest way possible.
“Happy National Donut Day, Huskies! 🎉,” the school wrote in the caption of an X post on Friday.
The hilarious and celebratory post showing a donut instead of a 0 even got a reaction from head coach Dan Hurley, who led them to back-to-back championship triumphs in 2022-23 and 2023-24.
“Basketball Capital of the World,” the 52-year-old wrote.
Hurley’s comment gained attention from fans, who shared their reactions in the comment section.
“Amen to that! 👊🏻👊🏻,” former Head coach Jim Calhoun wrote.
“No doubt about it,” another shared.
“My goat,” one fan commented.
“🫡,” another shared.
“Number 7 soon,” one fan wrote.
“Come to the Knicks Dan,” another commented, referencing the possibility of Hurley becoming the New York Knicks next head coach. “We need you.”
Besides the two championships won under Hurley, UConn also won the coveted championship in 1998-99, 2003-04, 2010-11 and 2013-14 with head coaches Calhoun and Kevin Ollie. Hurley was also rumored to be in consideration for the Knicks' head coaching job after Tom Thibodeau was fired on Tuesday.
However, he quickly shut down those discussions.
“Not another summer of that,” Hurley told Hartford Courant writer Dom Amore during an interview.
This isn’t the first time Hurley has been rumored to transition over to the NBA. Last offseason, the Los Angeles Lakers offered him a six-year, $70 million deal, which he declined to return to UConn.
With Hurley not indicating that he will be leaving the Huskies anytime soon, it might be safe to assume he is looking to help their program win its seventh national championship.
