Columbia Falls doubles teams win big in Libby

LIBBY — The two-day Libby Invitational concluded Saturday with a couple doubles champions from Columbia Falls, and singles champs from Libby and Bigfork for the top brackets. 

In all nine brackets were played, with four lower tiers taking place in Libby.  

Bigfork’s Cassy Schlicht won the title in girls 1&2 singles in Libby, beating Kaidence Schmidt of Cut Bank 6-2, 6-1 in the final. 

The boys singles 1&2 title went to Libby’s own Ryan Beagle; he squared off with teammate Ryan Martineau in the final, prevailing 6-1, 6-3. 

Columbia Falls swept the top doubles titles. Will Pickard and Silas Ypma needed three sets to put away fellow Wildcats Jax Ramage and Sol Masters for the boys; Alanis Peterson and Aliyah Arenda also needed three sets to win the girls bracket from Libby’s Bella Meyers and Aubrey Davis. 

Congratulations are also due: Stevensville’s Silas Siebert (winner, boys singles 3&4); Columbia Falls’ Blake Berry and Isaac Crockett (doubles 3); Troy’s Shelby Cole (girls singles 3); Ava Scholz of Columbia Falls (girls singles 4) and Bigfork’s Payton DeSpain and Gwenna Lustig (girls doubles 3).
