The Oklahoma City Thunder put together a historic season last year that saw them dominate their way through the season and eventually led them to a championship.
This marked the Thunder’s first championship since relocating to Oklahoma City and they did it in dominant fashion, though the Indiana Pacers did push them to seven games during the NBA Finals.

Of course, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for the Thunder last season as he won regular season and NBA Finals MVP and Oklahoma City’s two other stars in Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren also played large roles in their success.
The Thunder also saw the rest of their roster come up big and with almost all of it returning next season, Oklahoma City is in prime position to repeat as champions.
This is exactly what NBA legend Charles Barkley mentioned earlier in the week as he discussed the future for the Thunder and their potential dominance over the next several seasons.
“I said Denver’s got a shot at it. But that’s it. Now, I think the Rockets got a shot at it. But I said halfway through the season, nobody can beat that team four times,” Barkley said about the Thunder. “You might beat them one time. You might beat them two times, You might beat them three times. But you got to beat them four times. They’re gonna be the favorites for the next three or four years. They’re young, They’re talented, They’re very well coached.”
Barkley makes a great point about the Thunder likely being the favorites for the next three to four seasons and it could be even longer with Shai, Williams and Holmgren now locked up after signing max contract extensions.

The Thunder also have a plethora of draft capital that they could use to pull off almost any trade they want or they could also use it to continue to add young pieces to their roster and potentially turn themselves into a dynasty.
Either way, the Thunder will enter next season as the team to beat and it is likely that will remain the case for the foreseeable future.
