Jeff Chabot could be heard clearly organising the defence during Tuesday morning's training session.
"Push out," he called to his teammates, urging, "Pressure, pressure!" after losing possession. The first training session of the week took place on Tuesday morning under clear skies and was watched by a large crowd at Mercedesstraße.
Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß had the team working on both attacking and defensive exercises in various formats. There was a clear sense that VfB want to respond to their recent 1-0 home loss to Heidenheim. They will have the chance to do so away at St. Pauli on Saturday.
"We analysed the match together. Obviously, losing at home is very frustrating and something that shouldn’t really happen," said Chabot.
"Unfortunately, we didn’t take our chances and we also failed to keep a clean sheet." The defender stressed the importance of moving forward quickly. "We know we are capable of better. That’s what we need to show and want to show as a team. It would really help us to get three points again."
With another Stuttgart public training session was well attended once again, it is a given for Chabot and his teammates that they stay behind after training to sign autographs and take selfies. "The fans support us brilliantly, it really means a lot. That’s why it’s great when we can give something back," said the 27-year-old.
