Cameras Catch Caitlin Clark’s Reaction to Angel Reese’s Mistake on Saturday

When this season started, Saturday's game between the Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky was expected to be a marquee matchup between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. The two have formed a budding rivalry over the last couple of years that some have compared to that of NBA legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

But Clark is out with a strained quad, and she could only sit and watch as her team ran up a 68-39 lead at the end of the third quarter.

About midway through the third quarter, Reese attempted to execute a spin move in the post but was called for traveling. Clark couldn't help but react from the bench.

The Fever came into this game with a 3-4 record. Ever since Clark was diagnosed with her injury nearly two weeks ago, they have struggled -- they had lost three games in a row, starting with Clark's last game, before defeating the Washington Mystics on Tuesday.

Chicago, meanwhile, has a 2-4 record and has won two games in a row.

Coming into this game, Reese was shooting a paltry 31.1% from the field on the season, although she's averaging 12.3 rebounds a game. Her shooting troubles continued on Saturday versus Indiana.

This individual rivalry has its roots in the 2023 women's NCAA championship game, which Reese's LSU Tigers won 102-85 over Clark's Iowa Hawkeyes. The two teams met again in 2024, this time in the Elite Eight round, with Iowa prevailing, 94-87.

The good news for Indiana, other than the big lead they built on Saturday, is that Clark may be able to return to action as early as Tuesday when it faces Brittney Griner and the Atlanta Dream.
