Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Portis is facing criticism after getting involved in a series of testy exchanges in Sunday's Game 4 against the Indiana Pacers.
The Bucks went into the game facing a 2-1 deficit, with their road growing even more difficult after guard Damian Lillard suffered what is feared to be a season-ending Achilles tear.
With the Pacers building up a double-digit lead early in the game, Portis appeared to lose his patience and got into some verbal and physical altercations with Pacers players. In one exchange, he bumped Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton and got close in his face during a stoppage in play.
In another exchange, Portis pushed Aaron Nesmith while Nesmith was on the ground.
Many fans were upset at referees not intervening more forcefully against Portis.
"are refs not gonna call a tech on portis? they’re co-signing his weird behavior" a fan shared in a post on X.
"How is Bobby Portis allowed to do all of this BS constantly?" another fan wrote on X.
Others said Portis' actions were far beyond the scope of the game.
"Bobby Portis is not here to play basketball tonight," added another. "Dude's about to crash out"
Some fans questioned whether Portis was trying to bait the Pacers into an altercation.
"Bobby Portis wanted to start a fight so bad," one fan shared in a post on X. "Zero Pacers took the bait. MATURE BRAINS ON THE COURT"
