Caitlin Clark Turns Heads After Joining All-Stars' Demands to WNBA

As if it wasn’t already clear that WNBA players’ frustrations have been growing over their low pay, the players utilized the biggest platform available to bring attention to the issue.

Before Saturday’s WNBA All-Star Game between “Team Clark” and “Team Collier,” the two teams selected by leading vote-getters Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier, the best players in the league took a stand.

After taking off their warmups, every player could be seen wearing a T-shirt that says, “Pay us what you owe us.” A pretty direct message to the WNBA as the two sides attempt to negotiate a new CBA.

With the message already being strong as is, Clark, who is widely regarded as the biggest star in the sport’s history, was also seen wearing the shirt despite being sidelined with a groin injury. The image of her in the shirt has taken social media by storm, with some fans agreeing with the stance while others opting to attack the players.

“Message is clear,” wrote one fan.

“If the WNBA paid Caitlin Clark what she is “owed,” it would be 50% of league revenues and ticket sales,” chimed in another.

“ABSOLUTELY,” exclaimed another.

“How are you owed money from a league that is in the red,” questioned one commenter.

“If the league is profitable and making money then yes, ok,” said another.

When asked how her salary stacks up in comparison to her lucrative endorsement deals with Nike, StateFarm and Gatorade, Clark couldn’t help but laugh before shedding light on what the players are fighting for.

“That’s a good question,” Clark said. “You know, honestly, I feel like that’s where we’re really fortunate is that we have those other deals. And I think that’s one of the things we’re in the room fighting for. Like Phee (Collier) said, we should be paid more, and hopefully that’s the case moving forward as the league continues to grow.”

The WNBPA opted out of the league’s current CBA last October, and while the league may not prefer this outcome, the two parties seem to be heading toward a lockout.
