Caitlin Clark Takes on Unexpected Job for Indiana Fever After Injury Setback

The Indiana Fever got back to winning ways on Friday with a 94-86 win over Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings. It was a good bounce-back victory for Indiana after losing to the Los Angeles Sparks at home on Thursday, 85-75.

The Fever got the win despite missing the services of Caitlin Clark, who sat out for a second straight contest due to a lingering groin injury. There was some hope that the former Iowa superstar would be able to suit up against Dallas after being tagged as day-to-day with her latest injury, but as it turns out, Clark just wasn't healthy enough to take the floor against the Wings.

The reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, however, still joined her team in their road game in Dallas. In fact, she took on a new role on the bench to show her support for her teammates despite being out of commission.

A new video shows Clark handing out towels to her Fever teammates during a dead-ball situation.

Clark made sure that everyone in the huddle got a towel to wipe off their sweat. She then proceeded to stand beside her teammates as head coach Stephanie White barked out instructions.

The Fever turned in a noteworthy team performance on Friday to defeat the Wings, who suffered their 13th loss of the season. Indiana, however, will need Clark back for their next game as they take on Napheesa Collier and the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner's Cup championship game on Tuesday.

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22) missed her consecutive game for groin injury.

Clark continues to be day-to-day, though, and while there is optimism that she will be ready for the Lynx game, there's just no guarantee at this point.
