Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever began the 2025 WNBA season with a victory over Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky.
Indiana dominated Chicago from start to finish, capping off their first game of the season with a 93-58 victory.
After their first game of the season, Clark was set to make a public appearance with Fever head coach Stephanie White.
According to Scott Agness, Clark was scheduled to wave the green flag at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS), spurring the start of the lap for racers.
Agness then explained that Clark will not be able to attend the event due to a scheduling conflict.
White will now be joined by Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham and Makayla Timpson, waving the green flag at the IMS.
While it's a disappointing update from Agness, given Caitlin Clark's popularity, Indiana fans should still be excited for the WNBA season.
Clark and the Fever clearly established themselves as WNBA title contenders during the first game of the season. They have one of the deepest rosters in the league, led by Clark, who won Rookie of the Year and was named a WNBA All-Star starter last season.
In the win over the Chicago Sky, Caitlin Clark posted 20 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Her stat line marked the first-ever triple-double by a point guard in a season opener in WNBA history.
Clark will look to replicate that success on Tuesday, when the Fever go head-to-head against the Atlanta Dream at 7 p.m. ET.
The Fever will then play the Dream in Atlanta on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
