Need a pickup bed on your daily driver, but refuse to daily anything other than a new Bentley straight from Crewe? All you have to do is ask the right person, it turns out... as long as you bring enough money to cover the many relevant expenses.
Yes, Bentley sales and marketing executive Christophe Georges recently told Australia's CarSales that a Bentley with a truck bed is within the range of possibility for the brand's Mulliner one-off customization team. Georges says "there is no real limitation" on projects like a Bentley pickup, so long as a customer has the cash and the vision to make it happen.
At the moment, the limiting factor is demand. Georges says that a Bentley truck "is not in the plan because nobody requested it," but that doesn't mean nobody ever will. If you want to change Bentley's mind on the matter, all you have to do is call up your contact at the Mulliner division (you should probably already have one if you're going to make a request like this) and tell them which existing Bentley product needs a bed.
When you do put your order in, you'll have a few good options. The most exciting is the Continental GT, which could make an impressive "El Contamino" with a bed in place of the two-door's back seats and trunk. The Flying Spur gives you a more stately sedan-based body style, which may translate better to the proportions of a pick-up. And the Bentayga already has some utility as an SUV, but it would have even more utility as the ultimate evolution of the Honda Ridgeline concept. All you have to do is ask the right person — but again, remember that asking the right person would be a very, very expensive endeavor.
