The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona were contacted over the potential signing of outbound Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have this week provided an insight into the situation.
The name of defender Alexander-Arnold has of course dominated the headlines in Spain over the last 48 hours.
This comes after the England international at last announced his decision to depart Liverpool on a free transfer this summer, ahead of linking up with long-time suitors Real Madrid.
After 20 years at Liverpool Football Club, now is the time for me to confirm that I will be leaving at the end of the season.
This is easily the hardest decision I’ve ever made in my life.

As alluded to above, though, if ensuing word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Real were not the only one of La Liga’s leading clubs to have been afforded the chance to bring Alexander-Arnold in this summer.
As per a report from Sport:
‘He was also offered to Barça, but it was late and they did not want to compete with the multimillion-dollar fee that the white club has put on the table.’
Barcelona nevertheless remain on the lookout for right-back reinforcements, with Bayer Leverkusen standout Jeremie Frimpong the current favourite to be brought in with a view to next season.
