Arizona softball adds 4-star catcher Emma Anderson to 2027 class

Class of 2027 commit Emma Anderson and the Arizona softball coaching staff

Arizona softball is quickly amassing one of the top classes in the 2027 recruiting cycle. The latest addition is four-star catcher Emma Anderson, who became the Wildcats’ fifth commit in the 2027 class with her announcement on Sunday morning.

Anderson will come to Arizona from Eaton, Colo. where she plays for Eaton High. Softball America ranks her as the No. 105 player in the class, the No. 15 catcher, and the No. 1 player in Colorado. The outlet gives her a score of 92.

She is the fourth four-star commit in Arizona’s 2027 class, according to SA. The group also includes a three-star commit. Prior to Anderson’s addition, it was ranked fifth in Division I.

In the scout of Anderson, Softball America’s Brady Vernon writes, “Emma is overly athletic and a true utility player. She has the intangibles most coaches wish for - elite work ethic, high softball IQ, and the ability to perform under pressure.”

Colorado high school softball teams are playing in the fall, so Anderson already has stats for her junior year at Eaton. She is hitting .528 through 36 at-bats and 39 plate appearances in 10 games this fall.

Thirteen of her 19 hits have gone for extra bases with five doubles, three triples, and five home runs. She has scored 19 runs and knocked in another 19. She has two walks and a hit-by-pitch against no strikeouts.

In her 2.5 years of high school softball, Anderson has hit .563. She has 244 plate appearances and 206 at-bats in 65 games. She has walked 22 times and been hit by 12 pitches while striking out just five times in her prep career.

Anderson has accounted for 116 hits with 36 doubles, 10 triples, and 26 home runs at Eaton. She has 130 runs scored and 117 RBI.

Eaton picked up its third straight CHSAA 3A state championship in 2024. Anderson was named the CHSAA 3A Player of the Year and MaxPreps Player of the Year.

Anderson plays travel ball for Corona Angels Tyson, which was the 14U Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series Runner-up in 2024. Her highlights can be found on her SportsRecruits profile.

In addition to playing catcher, Anderson has also spent some time in the outfield.

Anderson also had offers from Stanford and Nebraska.
