Arch Manning Names Five-Star Freshman That Has Looked 'Good'

Texas quarterback Arch Manning has no shortage of playmakers at his disposal this season.

Manning is entering his first year as the full-time starter for the Longhorns and will need to lean on several players to take the pressure off of him. Texas has several returning playmakers like wide receivers Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore, but there's a couple true freshman who could make an impact as well.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff brought in the No. 1 overall recruiting class for the 2025 cycle. The group consists of two blue-chip receivers in Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench.

When Manning spoke with the media at the Manning Passing Academy over the weekend, he specifically mentioned Lockett as a player who has looked good over the summer.

"Kaliq's looking good this summer," Manning said. "We're fired up. We've got a young but talented group."

Lockett and Ffrench will likely work their way into the rotation as the season progresses. Last year, Sarkisian used true freshman Ryan Wingo in a variety of ways. 

Although Texas has several inexperienced players at key positions this season, the Longhorns will open the 2025 college football season ranked one of the top three teams in the nation.

Anthony Hill Jr., Colin Simmons, and Michael Taaffe are key playmakers on the defensive side who will lead one of the top units in the nation.
