Angel Reese’s Final Voting Ranks Exposed After Snub from WNBA All-Star Starters

On Sunday, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark and Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier were named captains for the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game set for July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Then on Monday, the rest of the eight starters were announced — and among the Eastern Conference starters, Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, who is averaging a double-double this season, was surprisingly left out.

Alongside Clark and Collier, the starters at guard will be Paige Bueckers, Allisha Gray, and Sabrina Ionescu. The front court starters include A'ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Aliyah Boston, Satou Sabally, and Nneka Ogwumike.

Aliyah Boston is a great player but there is no way she should be starting over both Dearica Hamby and Angel Reese.Following the announcement, questions swirled around Angel Reese’s voting ranks — which were soon revealed, shedding light on why she missed out on a starting spot.

Angel Reese finished 5th in front court fan voting, which would have secured her a starting spot, but lower rankings from the media and players—12th in both—kept her just outside the top 10.

While Reese was ranked as the No. 6 forward, making her the first forward left out based on votes, she was actually ranked lower by both the media and players than Kiki Iriafen, Gabby Williams, and Alyssa Thomas — all of whom were placed behind Reese and are likely to be named reserves.

Through 16 games, with the Sky holding a 5-11 record, Reese is averaging 12.4 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. She earned her first All-Star nod last season during her rookie year after being drafted No. 7 overall out of LSU.

Fans reacted to Reese's snub:

"Boston over Angel Reese is criminal," a fan said.

"No Angel Reese is just crazy," another fan posted.

Someone else added, "Aliyah Boston is a great player but there is no way she should be starting over both Dearica Hamby and Angel Reese.

One more fan commented, "I don’t like how the media and some of the players are acting like Angel Reese isn’t elite. No one is doing it like her…"
