Angel Reese Had No Words for Chicago Sky's Tribute on Monday

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has been having a stellar season despite her team's early struggles, setting some WNBA records while averaging a double-double.

The second-year star still has time for her fans, however. The Sky shared a post on Monday showing several pictures, including one of a smiling Reese posing with a young fan.

"GOOD MORNING SKYTOWN," the team shared in the post on X.

Reese re-shared the image in her Instagram stories, adding no words for the post.

The Sky forward has not always had such great interactions with fans, with allegations that one used "hateful" comments toward her during a game against the Indiana Fever earlier this season.

But Reese has plenty of backers as well. NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal said he believes Reese is misunderstood, which he sees as the root of the backlash toward her.

"[She's] really a nice, beautiful young lady," O'Neal said earlier this WNBA season. "But when you're in this [sport] of ours, you have a play a certain way and you have to be a certain way. A lot of times, they, if they don't understand who you are, they misconceive. But I tell her all the time, 'Don't worry about that.' "

O'Neal said he advised Reese to ignore the critics and focus on her game -- and on the fans who appreciate her.

"She just needs to continue to... play her game, better her game, and don't worry about the nonsense," O'Neal said. "I tell her all the time: 'Don't be looking at those comments.' Because they don't really have a voice, they just think they do."
