Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford finally faced off last night (Sat., Sept. 13, 2025) inside a packed Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, in one of the most anticipated fights of the history of boxing, as Alvarez was out to prove he still had plenty to offer the fight game, while Crawford was on the hunt for the biggest win of his entire career.
And after 12 rounds of action, “Bud” did just that, pulling off a huge upset by defeating Alvarez via unanimous decision.
From the jump, Crawford was intent on being the aggressor and refused to be backed down from the “bigger” champion. And he did just that, pushing the pace early one and finding his range with his excellent jab works. Once he got comfortable, Crawford really started finding his rhythm and that is when he started doing damage.
As for Canelo, he became visibly frustrated as the fight went on because while he tried to push the pace and find his range, he simply couldn’t due to Crawford’s great foot work. And once he got confident, “Bud” was elusive when he had to be and popped off his careful offense when the opportunity arouse.
Check out some of the action:
It truly was a masterclass from Crawford, who now makes a huge case to take the No. 1 spot on the pound-for-pound list. With the win, Crawford will now be the “A” side moving forward and proved that all he needed was the opportunity to get the mega-fight to show he could deliver on the big stage.
