Alabama OL Jaeden Roberts cleared to play vs. Florida State

Alabama offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts has been cleared to play in the Crimson Tide’s season-opener against Florida State, Yea Alabama announced on Friday.

Roberts has missed roughly three weeks of preseason practice in concussion protocol, which held him out of both preseason scrimmages on Aug. 9 and Aug. 16.

“He’s been practicing,” Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said of Roberts during the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday morning. “Very limited. He’s making progress, but it’s slow and steady. I know this has been going over a couple of weeks, and so a lot of the same. So nothing more than that, really.”

It’s still unclear whether or not Roberts will start in Saturday’s game, but he will at least be available to play. Since he’s been out, 5th-year senior Geno VanDeMark has been working with the first team offensive line in practice at Roberts’ right guard position.

Roberts has been the Crimson Tide’s starter at right guard since midway through the 2023 season, including the majority of last season. He was named preseason second team All-SEC coming into his senior year in 2025 by the media.

No. 8 Alabama’s game against Florida State is set for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff tomorrow afternoon on ABC. The game will be played at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Flordia.
