79-70 – Rangers run winning streak to six with late-innings rally over Mets

The Texas Rangers scored three runs while the New York Mets scored two runs.

Running out of things to say about how crazy the Rangers are right now. Down 2-0 in the eighth in a Patrick Corbin-started game and the bats looking like the previous 80% of the season version of the club, Texas rallied for two runs in the eighth to tie the game and then a run in the ninth to pull ahead with most of that work coming against All-Star closer Edwin Diaz.

The other pitcher that the Rangers victimized in the late innings was setup man Tyler Rogers. Diaz came into today’s game with an ERA of 1.80, Rogers was rocking an ERA of 1.82.

This is an area of strength for the Mets, the back of the bullpen. And yet, here was this Rangers team sitting at like 0-for-6 with RISP throughout the day looking like they were about to fall back into regular 2025 habits only for them to break through against some of the best bullpen arms in the business to claim a sixth win in a row.

It’s wild right now, to say the least.

Player of the Game: Right now, Wyatt Langford is the guy in the lineup. Today, Langford had a couple of hits but none bigger than his two-out, RBI single off Diaz that brought in the go-ahead and eventual winning run.

Up Next: The Rangers have a chance to sweep the Mets tomorrow in the finale with LHP Jacob Latz expected to make the start for Texas opposite RHP Nolan McLean for New York.

The Sunday noontime first pitch from Citi Field is scheduled for 12:40 pm CT and will be aired on the Rangers Sports Network.
