EDGYTIM Top 5 Games in the Mid Suburban East
Warren Township at Hersey August 29th – The Huskies will get tested immediately taking on 8A power Warren Township at home to start the season. Slowibg down thew Blue Devils and standout RB Aaron Stewart is Job 1 for the Hersey defense.
Prospect at Palatine September 5th– This is another great early test and matchup as the Knights will try to slow down the Pirates and it’s big and physical line play.
Rolling Meadows at Elk Grove September 26th– Old school rivalry game in the Mid Suburban East and this game will give up a much better idea on both the Grens and the Mustangs this season.
More Mid Suburban East Top Games
Buffalo Grove at Prospect September 26th Yet another old school rivalry game where bith sides just do not like each other. Is Rolling Meadows Mom still alive?
Prospect at Hersey October 17th– No question this will again be the most anticipated game all season in the East. Prospect won in both matchups last season.
Toughest Schedule in the Mid Suburban East?
Hersey– I love the crossover series between the Mid Suburban and the Central Suburban schools and it just simply works for both conferences. Hersey gets the nod here as having the toughest overall schedule in the East. Just the first two games hosting Warren Township and Barrington in Barrington will be a big test right out of the gates.
Sleeper Team to Watch in the Mid Suburban East ?
Elk Grove– The Grens head coach Danny O’Donnell took over the Gren program from then head coach Miles Osei back in 2023. I remember Osei telling me that ODonnell was the right hire and that he would do fine. Elk Grove has gone 3-6 and 4-5 under ODonnell and could this be the breakout season? The Grens welcome back 11 returning starters and this summer looked to have good overall numbers and skills. Elk Grove over the years has been a program with a lot of grit and a blue collar mentality….and I also just liked what I saw from them this summer to be a bit intrigued.
2025 Mid Suburban East MVP Candidates
Hersey The Huskies will lean heavily this season on senior RB/DB Brandon Jenkins who is committed to Ohio University this summer. Jenkins has impressive speed, burst and cutback ability in the open field along with being a steady cover man on defense. Hersey two way starting OL/DL Jack Nolan is another key this fall for the Huskies. Hersey junior QB Jake Nawrot is already holding a few D1 offers and has the size (6-foot-5, 190 pounds) and eyeball passing physical tools who will draw considerable looks this fall.
Prospect– The Knights will look to break in some new faces in key positions this summer, but the core of the team is strong. Prospect welcomes back several key starterts on both sides of the offensive and defensive lines while also bringing back its entire starting receiver corp led by senior WR Nathan Cichy (Harvard).
Rolling Meadows Senior TE/DE Sean Kerr (Navy) is a key player and leader for the Mustangs this fall.
